Working with the Ottawa Food Bank
In 2010, the Ottawa Food Bank hired its first ever Community Harvest Co-ordinator, Jason Gray. Jason identified Roots and Shoots as an ideal place to trial the new community harvest program. Roots and Shoots is the first farm to collaborate with the Ottawa Food Bank through the Community Harvest program.
We will be working with Ottawa Food Bank staff and volunteers to grow a full acre of potatoes, carrots and onions this year. Our goal in 2012 – to grow 15,000 lbs of carrots and potatoes for the food bank!
If you would like to volunteer to help out with this project, send us an email.
