Community Workday & seedling sale

So nice to see you all!

Last Saturday Robin, Katherine and I (Jess) had such a great time seeing all of you who came out. We finally had some nice weather after another long COVID winter and it was so nice to chat plants and connect with our CSA and community members!

We will be doing it again this Saturday from 10-3pm. Robin and I will be around until lunchtime to help identify plants and connect with y'all! I also will be making to-die-for sourdough cinnamon buns, delicious chocolate chip cookies and brewing some Bean Fair Coffee. So come out for the morning and say hi!

Jess' delicious sourdough cinnamon buns were a star attraction

Mulching the trees we planted

This Friday we will be doing a volunteer day. Our windbreak we put in last fall (sponsored by Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation [MAPAQ] and ALUS) is not quite done--some rows still need mulching. We have the mulch and we just need the people :). These windbreaks will help protect our crops in the coming years and host birds and pollinators. We also have a huge patch of peonies to mulch.. but we'll work on that if the windbreaks get done :). As a thank you for this work we will be giving everyone a coupon for a cut-your-own-flower session, available starting the beginning of July.

Seedlings including Gaskin Perpetual Rhubarb, an heirloom that "never gets bitter"

If you would like to join us for the volunteer day, please email us so we know who to expect. You don't need to stay the whole time, but it is very important you show up at our farm for the beginning fo the work session (9 am or 1pm). Remember work gloves, long pants, a hat and water. We will be working about 500meters from the farm hub so access to water and bathroom is..well 500m away :). We will drive a couple of cars down to the place we will be working.

Here are the details:

VOLUNTEER Day: Friday, MAY 6

Time: 9-12PM and 1-3PM

See you then!

Also, if you haven't signed up for our CSA and are interested see our website or come talk to us this Saturday and we'll convince you it is a great deal and even better experience!
