Happy Summer from the Roots and Shoots Farm Team! We have a lot of exciting updates to share from around the farm this week.

CSA First Week Recap!

This week was our second week of the 2026 CSA season! We made some big changes this year by merging our summer and fall programs into one continuous 26-week box program.

Our first shares featured a variety of freshly harvested veggies, including head lettuce, basil, cilantro, kale, salad mix, tomatoes, eggplant, green onions, garlic, and more. There is plenty more to come: peppers are just around the corner, and our very first carrots are heading into the boxes this week!

If you haven't signed up we still have room in week B (which started July 1)

Check out the gallery from this week:

Can't manage the CSA commitment? No problem!

Our store has extended hours and is brimming with gorgeous veg, berries and local goodies and we guarantee freshness! Seriously, bring it back and we'll replace it if you're not happy with the quality!

Farm Store Updates & New Hours

We are now opening earlier during the week! Stop by starting at 8:00 AM to grab a coffe and your fresh veg.

While peony season has officially come to a close, fresh strawberries have arrived in the farm store! Please note that we won't be doing U-Pick this year, but we will keep the store stocked with them for you.

PICNIC AT THE FARM !!

Make a day of it!

You can also come out and enjoy a grilled sandwich or protein salad and a refreshing drink! We've got muffaleta sandwiches and mushroom melts, gorgeous local chocolate milk, local soda's and more!

Around the Farm

The hustle never stops! We are in the last weeks of major planting.. after next week the only thing we will be planting will be winter and greens! This week we planted winter cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli. Next week our last storage carrots and beets will be seeded. that's it folks! July 15th and our window of oppourtunity closes for most crops!

Meanwhile, the tomato and cucumber greenhouses are officially looking like tall, lush jungles.

THE TEAM

We are incredibly grateful for our hard-working team this season. We actually managed to capture a rare moment where almost everyone was together at the same time for a group shot! (See photo below... minus a couple of missed staff members!)

🐜 Farming Fun Fact of the Day

Did you know? Ants and peonies have a mutually beneficial relationship! The ants feast on the sweet nectar produced by the flower buds, and in return, they help protect the peony buds from other harmful insects.

Thank you for supporting local farming and local theatre!

Warmly,

Kat & the Roots and Shoots Farm Team
